Po dwóch dniach w niezwykłym Tayrona Park, wracamy do Santa Marta, tam wsiadamy do autobusu by po 17 godzinach jazdy i przebyciu 800 km po nieraz naprawdę krętych Kolumbijskich drogach docieramy do Medellin (czyt. Medezin). Medellin to miasto, w którym żył i którym de facto rządził Pablo Escobar, jeden z najbardziej bezwzględnych i brutalnych baronów narkotykowych w historii, który w latach swojej świetności zarabiał ponoć 1 mnl dolarów dziennie. By zdobyć i utrzymać władzę stosował taktykę „plata o plombo” – srebro lub ołów.
After two days in an extraordinary Tayrone Park , we are going back to Santa Marta, to take a bus and then after 17 hours of driving and traveling 800 km (trough sometimes really winding Colombian roads) we reached Medellin (pron. meðeˈʝin) . The city is beautifully situated in a valley, or maybe in a dale – at an altitude of over 1500 meters above sea level where there is eternal spring – the temperature fluctuates almost all the time around 20 degrees Celsius. City was for decades one of the most dangerous places in the world . Every day there were murderers here, bomb blasts and other acts of violence . Medellin is the city in which lived and which was de facto ruled by Pablo Escobar , one of the most ruthless and brutal drug lords in history, who in his best years, reportedly earn 1 mnl dollars a day. To gain and maintain power applied the tactics of „plata o plombo ” – silver or lead . By 2003, Medellin was declared by Interpol most dangerous city in the world . As you probably guessed 11 years ago, we would not be in Colombia, and certainly not in Medellin , and probably not in one piece 🙂 Even 15 years ago, a bomb exploded at the concerts , and in the downtown of Medellin residents could not move safely , even in day….
